忙里偷闲放松一下看了几集The Big Bang Theory. 简单整理了一下里面值得学以致用的一些英文。看完这篇文章后你再看一下[S08E21-23]这三集，你会有更多的收获。

我们熟悉handful是 "an amount that you can hold in your hand", 常见的用法是 "a handful of something", 表示“零星的几个”。重点是下图。

在这句话里handful指的是“熊孩子”－someone, especially a child, who is a handful is difficult to control.

类似的词还有 scallywag/scalawag; rascal; scoundrel.

“别插手” “跟你没关系” 就可以这么说. 大概就是don't get involved; not your business.

我们熟悉的是warm up 表示暖场。warm up to someone/something 表达的是“开始喜欢某人/事”－to begin to like someone “开始对某人/事变的热情主动“- to become more eager, intersted, or excited about something".

剧中Penny说“我是不是该为你妈妈做些什么，让她对我有点好感”。 造个句子你感受一下，我爱上了那个暖男 － I warmed up to the "warm guy".

Bible 和 babble的发音要注意下。

“be on and off" 分分合合。英文中的介词是最难掌握的，也是口语中经常使用的。慢慢积累这样的用法，你的英文就会听起来很“灵活，地道”。

“Bury the hatchet" －“把斧子埋起来”，就是"to make peace"的意思。像这样的俚语的使用到不必费心思去记，更重要的是要分场合的恰当使用。

这个很简单，有点“我倒想试试看”的意思。

Diametrically opposed: competely opposed

dole out: to give something. 大概是 “给予”的意思。

当别人说完话，你要接着说的时候可以说building on what XX just said... 同样的词还有"to add on" "to build on/off"

honeybuch＝sweetheart

turn over a new leaf: 改头换面；改过自新. to strat over/afresh; start a new chapter;

例如，你的前男/女朋友求复合，Ta或许会说“现在的我和以前不一样了" - "I have turned over a new leaf".

pomp and circumstance: splendid and colourful ceremony

Take someone's chances: accept the risk, risign oneself to whatever happens. 有点“铤而走险”的意思. 注意要用复数chances.

freaking是fxxking的委婉说法; shoot是shit的委婉说法;

recalibrate = readjust

Someone's stomping grounds: a favourite palce where someone often gose. 英式会写成"Stamping ground" - 老地方

Greetings = Hello, 这个用法有些过时了，开玩笑的时候可以用.

有没有听过一首叫Traveling Light (by Joel Hansen and Sara Groves) 的歌? 轻装旅行. 这里也是同样的用法, light做副词。

Done and done: a binding agreement, mutually accepted; done thoroughly and satisfactorily. 成交！

英文中有一些这样的用法：一个动词明明有自己对应的形容词和名词了，还要自己来个变形计来造个新的词。freeing这种用法不是很常见，知道是怎么回事就行。

shenanigans, 注意一定要用复数。“小花样”的意思
