You May Come to China Soon! Entry Restriction will be Eased!

Reese HACOS瀚客 2020-09-01

It's not easy to come to China these days since the country has temporarily suspended the entry by most of foreign nationals from last month. But here comes good news, China is seeking fast-track travel arrangements with some countries. Personnel meeting conditions may be allowed to travel across borders soon!

According to China's Foreign Ministry spokesman Geng Shuang, China is in talks with nations including South Korea and Singapore about setting up "fast-track lanes" for key business and technical personnel to travel across borders amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

"The aim is to stabilize the country's important trade and business cooperation with relevant countries and guarantee the smooth operation of global industrial and supply chains while curbing the contagion's spread," he said at a regular news briefing in Beijing.

Geng said China and South Korea have reached consensus in principle on establishing such a fast-track arrangement, and they are discussing a detailed implementation plan.

In an earlier China-Singapore virtual joint meeting on COVID-19, the two nations agreed to discuss better access for necessary personnel while safeguarding public health, he said.

Last month, China announced a temporary suspension of most entry into the country by foreigners in an effort to curb risks of coronavirus infections posed by travelers from overseas.

It also reduced or suspended the majority of international passenger flights to help prevent imported novel coronavirus cases.

But there are signs that China is looking to relax some of its controls as the measures used to curb the pandemic place a huge economic strain on nations worldwide.

Besides South Korea and Singapore, some media reports said that China has also proposed the idea to some countries in Southeast Asia and Europe. It is likely to see the entry open to more foreigners.
