The Innovation Life （ISSN 2959-8761）是The Innovation的生命科学姊妹刊，通过开放获取（Open Access）的方式面向全球发表创新、严谨和前沿的重要生命科学研究进展。The Innovation Life 由南方科技大学朱健康教授（美国科学院院士）和中国科学院深圳先进技术研究院Diana Boraschi 教授（意大利科学院院士）担任主编。

Expanding universe, unfathomed ocean, the miracle of life is unveiling. Water, in particular, is often looked upon as the paradise of innocence. Who watered the gurgling spring at the dawn of creation? How many amazing lifeforms have perished in the roaring waves, and how many more striving lives have valiantly stood up at the forefront of the tide, charting the course of this river of life? Are we the sole inhabitants of this vast universe? Are we capable of making new scientific breakthroughs in the long river of life? The unknown world is always worth looking forward to. Together with The Innovation Life, let us see the unseen, change the unchanged.

Inauguration | 创刊词
Life on Earth：地球因生命而繁荣。为了更好地了解我们的星球，人们创建了许多的学科，包括物理，化学，生命，经济，工程学，艺术等。生命科学已然成为人类文明进步的重要推动力，并将在未来继续发挥更大的作用。生命科学旨在通过研究生命现象，揭示生命活动的规律并阐明生命的本质，包括所有生物的发生、发展和灭绝，解析物种间的相互关系，以及它们对环境的适应和改造等。长久以来，科学家们仍在不断努力从宏观到微观、从个体到分子加深我们对生命现象的理解：在宏观层面上，人类社会关系、生态学、气候与环境、保护生物学、生命过程以及组织、器官和系统的结构正不断被揭示；在微观层面上，现代生命技术使我们能够更好地了解细胞、细胞器和生物大分子，以及它们的结构与功能之间的关系。
纵观历史，人类从未停止过对生命科学的探索。数千年前，基于对人体生理和死亡的认知，人类制作了木乃伊；中国古代的《诗经》对数百种动植物进行了生动的描述；这些都闪耀着古人对生命的热爱和探索。17世纪中期，科学家列文虎克发明了显微镜来“观察”细胞，打开了现代生命科学研究的大门。几个世纪以来，生命科学研究得到了长足的发展。从前，研究是在各个独立的小型实验室进行的，主要是在试管、培养皿中探索特定的生物体和反应。现在，研究越来越多地依赖于合作、大型设备、大数据计算、大型科学项目，甚至多学科融合。对高通量测序仪、超分辨率显微镜和超高场强核磁共振设备的广泛使用正在生命科学的不同领域创造新的研究范式。
对于生命科学领域的每一位研究人员来说，“创新”既是挑战也是难得的机遇。我们正在从“理解生命”走向“改造生命”，甚至“设计生命”。未来的生命科学研究必将汇集数学、物理、化学、材料学和计算机学等诸多学科，以促进生命科学研究的持续发展，并产生及推动更高层次基础理论的发展和技术的飞跃。
为了应对生命科学的挑战，见证并参与生命科学的发展，我们推出了名为The Innovation Life的新期刊，致力于发表生命科学领域中取得的创新、严谨、前沿以及跨领域的卓越成就。
The Innovation Life旨在为出版跨学科研究提供一个平台，以促进我们对生命世界的理解。随着传统学科之间的界限不断模糊，汇集来自不同领域的研究人员来应对现代生物学面临的复杂挑战比以往任何时候都更加重要。我们相信，The Innovation Life将在促进这种合作和突出尖端跨学科成果发表方面发挥重要作用。
本期刊涵盖了生命科学的各个领域，欢迎全球各地的研究人员提交相关研究成果。我们的编辑团队致力于提供公平、严格的同行评审程序，维护最高标准的科学诚信。我们还致力于激励下一代从事生命科学研究的科学家，培养其跨学科研究的热情，并促进其将基本发现转化为应对紧迫挑战的切实解决方案。本刊将拥抱生命科学宏大的叙事背景，见证生命科学发展历程的改变，并记录生命科学工作者的付出、贡献和成就。
