As emphasized in the report of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, it is necessary to adhere to the theme of promoting high-quality development, building a high-level socialist market economy and developing a modern industrial system while comprehensively promoting the rejuvenation of China with Chinese-style modernization.At the new stage of development, by upholding the five-in-one integrated model of economics, politics, culture, society, and ecological civilization, it is necessary to unswervingly follow the path of Chinese-style modernization and create a new form of human civilization. The high-quality development is the primary task of comprehensively building a socialist modern country. Chinese-style modernization is guided by an enriching component of Chinese President Xi Jinping's economic thoughts, which are the key to promoting development in China.Xi Jinping's economic thoughts are the latest theoretical achievement of Marxist political economy, and it is the precious crystallization of the valuable thoughts of the Chinese Communist Party's unremitting exploration of socialist economic development. It is the action guideline in promoting the high-quality development of China's economy and comprehensively building a socialist modern country. The Central Committee of the CPC with Xi Jinping as the core grasps the overall situation of the great rejuvenation strategy of the Chinese nation and the unprecedented changes in the world. New ideas and strategies have been established in practice and continuously enriched Xi Jinping's economic thoughts.Departing from economic laws and development, Xi Jinping's economic thoughts demystify the relationship between modernization and westernization and correct and transcend the inherent defects of Western modernization paths by effectively coordinating the roles of the government and the market, and therefore successfully establishing socialist market economics in the new era.Xi Jinping's economic thoughts, taking the relationship between the government and the market as the core theme of the reform of the economic system, do not totally negate Western economics. They do indicate that it is necessary and helpful to learn from Western economics on such topics as finance, prices, currencies, marketing, competition, trade, exchange rates, industry, enterprises, growth, and management, as well as the general laws of socialization and market economy. Much attention is also being paid to regional coordinated development rather than monopolized markets, which reflects the values of our socialist path with Chinese characteristics, and sets a good example and contributes to the world economy.Socialism with Chinese characteristics has entered a new era, where economic development has initiated a new normal, shifting from high-speed growth to a stage of high-quality development. In the new historical direction, Xi Jinping's economic thoughts make it clear that promoting high-quality development is a distinctive theme of China's economic development and that high-quality development is the primary task of comprehensively building a socialist modern country.Xi Jinping's economic thoughts creatively propose the new concepts of innovative, coordinated, green, open and shared development, and also build a new development pattern of mutual promotion of domestic large-scale cycles and domestic and international dual cycles. They also organically integrate the implementation of the effort to expand the strategy of domestic demand and deepening supply-side structural reforms.The integration of the implementation of the strategy of expanding the domestic demand and the deepening of the supply-side structural reform provides strong support for high-quality development. That's by unblocking the large domestic cycle, breaking the supply constraints, and focusing on all aspects of production, allocation, circulation, and consumption. Furthermore, it helps to develop a comprehensive domestic demand system, which accelerates the formation of a higher level of dynamic balance between supply and demand by creating a mutually reinforcing cycle of demand and supply. Implementing the strategy of expanding domestic demand is the actual need of the people's longing for a better life. It is the active choice to give full play to the super-large market advantages, and it is also an inevitable requirement for profound changes in the international environment.Historically, the establishment of a new development pattern is a conscious grasp of China's objective economic laws and development trends. The major economic entities are characteristic of the dominance of domestic demand and internal circulation. After more than 40 years of reform and opening up, China has become the world's second largest economy. The manufacturing industry and the relationship between domestic and international economic cycles is at the crucial stage for adjustment. This is the primary consideration of China's proposal to build a new development pattern by emphasizing expansion of domestic demand.Practically, the proposal of constructing a new development pattern was in the background during the rising period of the epidemic when the world entered a new turbulent period of change. In the face of a more complex and changeable external environment, only by relying on domestic cycles to achieve economic development, can China survive and develop vigorously within the turbulent international situation.Globally, the pandemic severely impacted the recovery of the world economy and the north-south gap expanded while the issues of development were politicized and marginalized. Global development has reached the crossroads of history. Some countries try to hinder China's economic development and structural upgrade through decoupled chains.Domestically, the Chinese economy is facing a contraction of demand, an impact of supply, and weakening of expectations. An improvement in productivity has been restricted. More efforts are therefore needed from both ends of supply and demand. By expanding effective demand and promoting the adjustment of production functions, it will create new competitive advantages.It is still a long way to go to comprehensively promote the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation with Chinese-style modernization. Towards the establishment of a modern power of socialist modernization, we trust that the Chinese Communist Party with Xi Jinping as the core will lead the Chinese people on a new great expedition.
