Detailed Guide - How to Make a COVID-19 Vaccination Appointment?

Shanghai has started COVID-19 vaccination appointments for expats from today (See full list of vaccination venues).

This article will show you how to make a reservation step by step.

1. Scan the QR code below, which link to the service page for foreigners in Shanghai through Jiankang Yun platform (健康云).

2. You can choose from the Chinese/English version. Click on "Registration for Foreigner in Shanghai".

3. After you have agreed with the "Informed Consent for COVID-19 Vaccination", fill in your personal information (" * " means must-filled)

You will be able to choose the specific vaccination clinic according to the district in which you are living now. After filling the form, click "Submit".

4. You will receive the text message confirming the date, time, and venue for vaccination if you succeed in making the appointment;

Remember to bring your Foreign Permanent Resident ID Card, passport, or valid permit of stay or residence to the vaccination venue on the confirmed date.

5.After vaccination, you will be under observation for 30 minutes in the vaccination clinic. If you do not feel uncomfortable, then you might leave.

6. You should pay attention to your health condition for the next 14 days after the shot. In case of serious adverse reactions, please go to the hospital immediately.

Your injection spot should be kept clean and dry. You should have a bland diet, good rest, and drink enough water, but no alcohol, for a week after the injection.

7.What are the vaccines used in Shanghai?

They are inactivated virus vaccines. Using chemical means, they curb infection and replication of the COVID-19 virus, and trigger human immune response activity.

The vaccines are based on traditional and classic vaccine preparation methods, which originate in mature and reliable research and development.

Compared with other technical means, the inactivated virus vaccine R&D is mature and its manufacturing technique stable. Its quality standard can be controlled and it provides good protection. It can be mass produced, and its safety and effectiveness are recognized internationally.
