Latest Travel Policies for Expats Entering China

In order to help our foreign friends who plan to come to China or travel to different cities in the country, HACOS has complied the latest travel policies and measures of several cities. 

RULES FOR CHINA-BOUND PASSENGERS 

Starting from July 21, passengers to China are required to obtain COVID-19 negative certificates before boarding.

The rules are applicable to China-bound passengers from the following countries, including those ultimately bound for China who transfer via the following countries. 


The list of countries where the above-mentioned passengers are required to follow the rules will be adjusted as necessary. Please check the official website of the Chinese embassy or the following link for the real-time updates:

UPDATES ON TRAVEL POLICIES IN CITIES

BEIJING

  • Domestic Inbound 


Personnel returning or coming to Beijing from medium- and high-risk areas are required to undergo 14-day home quarantine or quarantine at designated places, and take a COVID-19 nucleic acid test. 

Personnel travel from low-risk areas: no quarantine required, but green health code and temperature check are needed. 

High-risk personnel (confirmed cases, suspected cases, people with a fever, etc) and those who have close contacts with high-risk personnel cannot enter Beijing. 
 
Discharged persons from hospital need to undergo 14-day quarantine at designated venues. 


  • International Inbound 


Starting from June 8, all international flights to Beijing are currently being redirected to one of 16 other cities (Chengdu, Changsha, Hefei, Lanzhou, Tianjin, Shijiazhuang, Taiyuan, Huhhot, Jinan, Qingdao, Nanjing, Shenyang, Dalian, Zhengzhou, Xi’an, Wuhan). 

Once travelers with negative nucleic acid test results complete their 14-day mandatory quarantine in these other cities, if they proceed to Beijing on the same or following day, they will not be subject to further mandatory quarantine requirements in the capital. Otherwise, he/she will be subject to another 14-day mandatory quarantine upon arrival in Beijing. 

After mandatory 14-day quarantine (either in entry city or in Beijing), it is recommended to monitor body temperature and report to local community if shows any symptom. 

  • Outbound


Starting from June 16, people from high- and medium-risk areas of Beijing and related personnel of Xinfadi market are not allowed to leave Beijing. From July 4, people from low-risk areas of Beijing can leave Beijing without providing negative nucleic acid test result. 



CHONGQING

  • Domestic Inbound


Travelers from medium- and high-risk areas, or from low-risk areas of Beijing: no restrictions if a negative nucleic acid test result done within 7 days can be provided or a green health QR code with the negative test result can be provided. Travelers without a negative test result are subject to an immediate test at their arrival or a 14-day mandatory quarantine. 

Travelers from other low-risk areas: no restrictions if a green health code can be provided and the body temperature is normal. 


  • International Inbound 


All inbound travelers need to complete a nucleic acid test and those who test positive will be sent to local hospital for treatment. Travelers from or that have traveled to areas classified as ‘severe epidemic areas’ and that have a negative test result are subject to a 14-day mandatory quarantine at designated venues. 

Travelers from non-severe epidemic areas that have negative test results are required to conduct a 14-day self-quarantine and be included in their community health management. 

  • Outbound


No restrictions on the travel, but the international flights from Chongqing are currently limited. 



CHENGDU

  • Domestic Inbound


Travelers with a travel history in the high-risk areas in recent 14 days need to undergo a 14-day mandatory quarantine. 

Travelers come to Sichuan from medium-risk areas need to undergo a 14-day home quarantine for medical observation. 

All travelers from medium- and high-risk areas must complete a nucleic acid test and 14-day mandatory quarantine. However, those who can provide negative test results within 7 days at arrival can be exempted from the test. 


  • International Inbound


Similar to Chongqing, Chengdu requires travelers from or that have traveled to 16 areas classified as ‘severe epidemic countries/areas’, as well as other countries/areas, within the past 14 days to stay at government-designated local hotels for health observation and nucleic acid tests. 

  • Outbound


No restrictions on the travel, but the international flights from Chengdu are currently limited. 



GUANGZHOU

  • Domestic Inbound


There's no 14-day quarantine requirement for those who are from low-risk areas. A basic temperature check on arrival will be carried out. They need to fill in the Suikang Code (穗康码) or Yuekang Code (粤康码) app in advance for health confirmation. 

Travelers from high-risk areas are required to take a nucleic acid test and undergo a 14-day mandatory quarantine at designated places. 

Travelers from medium-risk areas are required to take a nucleic acid test at arrival and comply with the community health management, including providing health notice and green health code, carrying out health consultations, etc. 


  • International Inbound


All inbound travelers to Guangzhou from overseas will be subject to a nucleic acid test and quarantine. If travelers show abnormal symptoms, they will be taken immediately to the hospital. A chartered bus will bring all Guangzhou-destined travelers to a designated quarantine area for testing and 14-day quarantine. 

  • Outbound


No restrictions. 



SHANGHAI

  • Domestic Inbound


Travelers from high-risk areas are subject to a 14-day mandatory quarantine at designated places and two nucleic acid tests. 

Travelers from medium-risk areas are subject to a 14-day mandatory quarantine at home; subject to two nucleic acid tests. 


  • International Inbound


Starting from July 27, passengers entering Shanghai from the overseas who meet the several conditions can now choose to undergo a seven-day centralized quarantine and another seven days of home quarantine instead of a 14-day centralized quarantine.

  • Outbound


No restrictions. 



SHENZHEN

  • Domestic Inbound


No quarantine requirement for those who are from low-risk areas. But they need to take a basic temperature check at arrival and fill in the i深圳 or Yuekang Code in advance. 

Travelers from high-risk areas are subject to a 14-day mandatory quarantine at designated places and a nucleic acid test. 

Travelers from low-risk areas also need to conduct a nucleic acid test at arrival, and comply with the community health management. 

  • International Inbound


All inbound travelers from overseas will be subject to a nucleic acid test and quarantine. Those with abnormal symptoms will be immediately brought to hospital. All travelers landed will need to quarantine for 14 days at government-designated hotels in Shenzhen. 

  • Outbound


No restrictions.
