牛首山英文导游词： 

Niushou Mountain

It islocated 13 kilometers outside Zhonghua Gate ,Nanjing. It was called NiushouMountain because its two peaks are really like the two horns of the ox-head.The mountain raises 242.9 meters above sea level and covers an areas of 19hectares. There is a custom “Spring Ox-head” in Nanjing. People all come hereto go hiking. Niushou Mountain today is upgraded mostly on the basis of core ofBuddhist culture.

In front ofus is Niushou Plaza, covering an area of 70 thousand square meters. The designconcept comes from the starry sky and universe. There are different size ofconcentric circles on the square. Every one has different themes. There is  Campanula Tower, and it is 28 meters high.The body of the tower is Calligrapher Yan Gong Da’s handwriting ” Niu ShouSheng Jing”.Under the  Campanula Toweris  Green lotuses pool. Later, peoplewill plant lotuses in the pool.This is tourist service center. Its shape islike a big rog and the design concept is the symbol of Buddhism. The symbol wascalled “Wan” .

This road iscalled TtianQue Road, because Ninshou Mountain formerly known as TianQuemountain. On both sides of the road planted representative plants throughoutthe year, the four seasons reincarnation represents the endless life, meaningBuddhism wisdom exists in nature. Such as sakura road of “spring” theme, bamboo forest of “summer”theme, the harvest road of “autumn” theme and the road of “winter”.

 Buddha Top temple covers an area of more than23000 square meters, with a total construction area of more than 8000 squaremeters, and is divided into two areas both north and south.

You see, in front of us is ginkgo. It is like three columns incensestanding in front of the Buddha Top Temple, enshrining and worshiping Buddha, Lawand Monk. Under the bridge is Free Life Pond, there are ten decorative objectslike the dragon, called Ba Xia. It is one of the nine son of the dragon. On oppositeof the wall of Free Life Pond, we enshrine and worship statues from ten sidesof the Buddha. Each  statue is carvedfrom a single stone.

Chinese people construct the temple valuing geomantic omen. They mostlywere located in the mountains, according to mountain shape, and the temple gatenaturally called the mountain gate. In front of us is the mountain gate of theBuddha Top Temple. The left and right sides of the mountain gate are the belltower and the drum tower respectively. The temples use it to tell the time.Calling monks to do homework, wake up, sleep and eat through the bell.

King hall is the first hall after the  mountain gate. On both sides of the front gateare couplets created by expert Gu Wanxiang and written by Jiangsu CalligraphersAssociation President Sun Xiaoyun writing. We enshrine and worship the TianguanMaitreya in  Buddha  top temple . He is the Mami of BodhisattvaMaitreya.  After his death , people made his portrayalof bodhisattvaMaitreya in order to commemorate him.

 The heavenly kings hall isflanked by four heavenly kings. Bodhisattva Wei Tuo Tian is behind the Maitreya.On both sides of King hall are the Garan hall and Patriarch hall. We enshrineand worship Guan Yu in Garan hall, and initial  six masters of Chan Zen and tau zen inPatriarch hall.

The main hall is the core of the building of Buddha top temple. Big manis the Buddha's German number and his honorific title. The main hall enshrineand worship   "three Buddha statue", and themiddle is  Shakya Muni Buddha, the leftand right side are Bodhisattva manjusri. Manjusri is Shakya Muni's left paternityand on behalf of the wisdom. Samantabhadra is Shakya Mani's right paternity, heis a symbol of the practice. Left the Buddha is Kassapa Thera, who is elder .The young palms is Ananda.

The main hall is around eighteen Arhats. They are eighteen of thepermanent residence of the Buddhist legend in the world. Behind the Buddha , weenshrine andworship moon water Kuan-yin , the statue is 7.5 meters high, 14.8meters wide. On both sides of  moon waterKuan-yin are Shancai and daughter of the dragon king. Around here is the restof the thirty-two incarnations of Avalokitesvara, on both sides there are fourkings guarding.

In Kuan-yin hall we enshrine and worship Jiangxi carved cedar ThousandArmed Kuan-yin, 3.3 meters high. Because each  hand has one eye, so called "ThousandArmed and Thousand Eyed Kuan-yin" .

The Pharmacist hall enshrines and worships the "OrientalSam", the main supply of Medicine Buddha, and his left and right paternityof sunlight and moonlight bodhisattva.

Sanctuary is also called hall. Buddhism, monk speech Buddhistdharma here. This area is the dining hall area, including dining hall, kitchenand Buddhist believers dining hall. The monksare a vegetarian, dating to theSouthern Dynasties. Because of Emperor Liangwu’s advocacy, being a vegetarianbecome a major feature of Chinese buddhism.
