“新汉学计划”语言学博士生工作坊征稿启事

暨中山大学双语研究大会 (2号通知)

为促进中外语言学博士生的学术交流，提高博士生的学术能力，“新汉学计划”语言学博士生工作坊将于2023年6月9-11日中山大学双语研究大会期间（中山大学珠海校区）举办，由中国中外语言交流合作中心与中山大学中文系（珠海）共同资助并主办。工作坊的主题为“新时代的双语研究”，研究对象包括第二语言、传承语、双方言、共同语与方言等，研究领域包括但不限于语音、音系、词法、句法、语义、语用、音系-句法或句法-语义等交互层面，心理语言学、社会语言学、计算语言学、语言教育、历史语言学等。工作语言为汉语和英语。

1.  征稿对象

在读博士，不限国籍和年龄。感兴趣的高年级硕士生也欢迎参与。

2.  截稿时间

请于2023年4月29日前将参加工作坊的论文摘要以电邮附件形式发送至：sysubc@mail.sysu.edu.cn。2023年5月15日前将发送匿名评审结果。

3.  提交格式要求

1）请提交两个文件，一个文件是作者信息（姓名、单位、email、手机）和论文题目，文件命名为“博士生+[作者姓名]+作者信息”；另外一个文件是论文题目和论文摘要，这个文件里不能出现作者信息，文件命名为“博士生+ [作者姓名]+摘要”。

2）摘要字/词数为700-1000，图表不算字数，请单独列出一页。

3）每位博士生只能投一篇摘要，且为独立作者，除非第二作者为其导师。

4.  论文接受和优秀论文奖

根据匿名评审结果，选取前36名博士生作为优秀论文奖的候选人（中外籍博士比例1:1）在工作坊中报告自己的论文，并由相关领域专家和中外权威期刊编辑点评，同时角逐优秀论文奖(4-6名)。获奖者将获得现金奖励，并获不超过600元的住宿补贴，前两名还将获得不超过2000元人民币的路费补贴。

第36名之后、匿名评审结果为接受的论文，其作者可以参加会议期间其它学术活动，并在双语研究大会普通分组报告。

2023年6月9-11日有四场培训工作坊（前三场为动手操作工作坊）。

1)   用Praat进行声调音高曲线的分析与比较（华东师范大学 凌锋副教授）

2)   地理语言学的几种制图方法 （复旦大学 黄河副研究员）

3)   R语言与语言实证研究数据的统计分析 （北京大学 冯硕助理教授）

4)   如何发表优质期刊论文（著名专家和国内外权威期刊编辑）

国外参会者可选择线下或线上形式参会；国内参会者默认线下参会，若有困难也可线上参会。国外学者若需要签证，请在4月9日前提交摘要，我们会于4月15日前发出评审结果。向双语大会投稿的所有学生都可申请学生奖助金（两天免费住宿），奖助金评选组根据论文质量和路程远近最终获得奖助金人选。同等情况下，优先考虑博士生。

Call for Papers for the China Studies Program

Doctoral Workshop on Linguistics 

Notice  No.2  for Sun Yat-sen University Conference 

on Bilingualism (SYSUCB)

In order to promote academic exchange between linguistics doctoral students in China and abroad and improve students’ academic competency, the  China Studies Program Doctoral Workshop on Linguistics will be held on June 9 – 11, 2023, during the SYSUCB. This workshop is sponsored by the Center for Language Education and Cooperation in China and the Department of Chinese (Zhuhai) at Sun Yat-sen University. The theme is “Studies of Bilingualism in the New Era”. Research objects include second languages, heritage languages, diglossia, lingua francas, dialects, etc., and relevant fields of study include but are not limited to: phonetics and phonology, morphology, syntax, semantics, pragmatics, the interface between phonology and syntax, syntax and semantics, etc., psycholinguistics, sociolinguistics, computational linguistics, language education, and historical linguistics. Official languages are Chinese and English.

1.  Submission qualifications

Doctoral students of any nationality and age. We also welcome interested senior master students.

2.  Deadline for submission

Please send your abstract for the workshop (as an email attachment) to sysubc@mail.sysu.edu.cn by April 29, 2023. Notification of acceptance will be communicated by May 15, 2023.

3.  Format Requirements

1)  Please submit two files. One file contains the authors’ information, including authors’ name(s), affiliations, email, mobile phone number, and the title of the abstract. This file is named “PhDstudent + [First author’s name] + author info”. The other file contains only the title and the abstract. The abstract will be reviewed anonymously; therefore, the authors’ information should not be indicated anywhere in this document. The second file is named “PhDstudent + [First author’s name] + abstract”.

2) The abstract must be 700-1000 words. Any tables and/or figures should appear on a second page.

3)  Each student may submit only one abstract and as the sole author unless the second author is the student’s advisor.

4.   Awards

According to the results of anonymous review, the top 36 doctoral students will be selected as candidates for the Excellent Paper Award (the ratio of Chinese candidates and other nationalities is 1:1) to present their papers in the workshop and receive feedback from experts in relevant fields and editors of prestigious journals. The top 4-6 candidates will be the winners and will receive a cash prize and housing subsidy of up to RMB 600. The top 2 will also receive a transportation subsidy of up to RMB 2000.

Other students whose abstracts are accepted yet rank below 36 can participate in other events during the conference and present their studies at the general sessions of SYSUCB.

Four training workshops will be held on June 9–11, 2023:

1)   How to analyze and compare pitch contours of tones using Praat (Associate Professor Feng Ling, East China Normal University)

2) Several Cartographic Methods Used in Geolinguistics (Associate Professor He Huang, Fudan University)

3) R Language and Statistical Analysis of Empirical Linguistic Research Data (Assistant Professor Shuo Feng, Peking University)

4) Publish or Perish: How to publish journal papers?  (editors of prestigious journals in linguistics)

Overseas scholars can select either onsite or online participation. Chinese scholars are onsite by default and online if needed. In order to get a visa on time, overseas scholars must submit their abstracts by April 9, and will be notified by April 15. All students who submit abstracts to the SYSUCB (including the doctoral workshop) can apply for a student scholarship (free 2-day accommodation). The scholarship committee will determine the winners based on the quality of the paper and travel distance. Doctoral students will be prioritized, other factors being equal.

培训专家介绍

Training experts

凌锋，华东师范大学国际汉语文化学院副教授。1995年就读于北京大学中文系，先后获得学士、硕士学位。2009年毕业于香港城市大学中文、翻译及语言学系，获语音学博士学位。此后一直在上海大学中文系工作，2023年转入华东师范大学。主要研究兴趣是实验语音学、汉语方言学，是《中国语音学报》编委会成员。曾在《中国语文》《方言》等刊物上发表论文多篇。

LING Feng (PhD, City University of Hong Kong) is an associate professor at the School of International Chinese Studies at East China Normal University. He obtained his bachelor's and master's degrees in the Department of Chinese Language and Literature at Peking University. He joined ECNU from Shanghai University, where he taught from 2009 to 2022. His main research interests are experimental phonetics and dialects of Chinese. He is a member of the editorial board of the Chinese Journal of Phonetics. He has published many papers including in major linguistic journals such as Zhongguo Yuwen and Fangyan.

黄河，复旦大学现代语言学研究院副研究员，于北京大学中文系获文学博士学位，研究领域为方言学、语言地理学、计量语言学，罗常培语言学奖获得者，主持国家社科项目1项，教育部青年项目1项，在《中国语文》《当代语言学》《方言》等期刊发表论文二十余篇。

HUANG He, Associate Professor at Institute of Modern Languages and Linguistics, Fudan University. He obtained his Ph.D. degree in linguistics from Peking University. His research field involves dialectology, geolinguistics, and quantitative linguistics. He won the LUO Changpei Linguistic Award in 2018 and presides over a national project and a Ministry of Education research project. He has published more than 20 articles in top linguistic journals.

冯硕，北京大学外国语学院外国语言学及应用语言学研究所助理教授。博士毕业于美国威斯康星大学麦迪逊分校英语系。研究领域包括二语习得、心理语言学、实验语义学与语用学等。

Dr. FENG Shuo is an assistant professor at the Institute of Linguistics and Applied Linguistics, Peking University. She obtained her Ph.D. degree in English Language and Linguistics at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Her research interests are second language acquisition and psycholinguistics, with a focus on the acquisition and processing at the semantics-pragmatics interface.
