在全球亿万观众的关注下，第24届冬季奥林匹克运动会在北京隆重举行。大到开幕式和场馆的统筹打造，小到服装和器物的设计准备，许许多多的中国文化元素巧妙融合、穿插其中。本期我们一起来看一看，北京冬奥会里都有哪些中国文化元素吧！

Witnessed by hundreds of millions of audience members worldwide, the 24th Olympic Winter Games kicked off with a stunning opening ceremony in Beijing. Traditional Chinese cultural elements have been subtly integrated into the entire event, from the overall planning and the venues, to the design and preparation of costumes and props. Now, let's take a look at the Chinese cultural elements in the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics together!

二十四节气

The Twenty-four Solar Terms

中国人将一年十二个月的自然节律变化加以总结，每月设置两个节气，一年共二十四个节气，是中国古代指导农业生产的重要依据。北京冬奥开幕恰逢二十四节气之首“立春”，因此开幕式倒计时创新性地将二十四节气融入其中。

The ancient Chinese summarized the changes in the natural rhythm of the 12 months of a year, and instated two solar terms for each month—forming a total of 24 solar terms—as an important basis for guiding agricultural production. The opening ceremony of the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics coincided with the first solar term Beginning of Spring; hence the 24 solar terms were ingeniously used for the countdown.

Chinese Characters

汉字是汉语的记录符号，属于表意文字，是世界上最古老的文字之一。现代汉字从甲骨文、金文、篆书、隶书、草书、楷书、行书等演变而来，形体上逐渐由图形变为笔画，按照固定笔顺一笔一画写就。

Chinese characters are the written script of the Chinese language. Belonging to the category of ideograms, they comprise one of the oldest writing systems in the world. Modern Chinese characters have evolved from oracle bone script, bronze script, seal script, official script, cursive script, regular script, running script and more. In the process, they gradually shed off some exceedingly pictographic features to take on their present forms, consisting of strokes written in established sequences.

巧妙融入汉字“冬”之中

The image of a skier and the ski slopes has been ingeniously integrated into Chinese character “冬” (winter) in the emblem of the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics

除希腊作为奥林匹克发源地、意大利作为下一届冬奥会东道主、中国作为本届东道主，分别位列第一位及最后两位出场外，其他代表团的入场顺序按照代表团名称第一个汉字的笔画数及笔画顺序（一、丨、丿、丶、冖）排列。

The order of the Parade of Nations is based on the number of strokes and stroke order in the first character of the nation’s name in Mandarin. (Greece, Italy and China didn’t follow the order—Greece entered first as it has always done for being the site of the first Olympics in ancient times, Italy entered second-to-last as the host of the next Winter Olympics, and China entered last as the host of the current Winter Olympics.)

虎年

Year of the Tiger

中国传统历法以十二生肖代表年份。北京冬奥会恰逢中国虎年，也融入了许多虎年设计元素。

In traditional Chinese calendar, the twelve zodiac signs are used to represent the year. The Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics coincided with the Chinese Year of the Tiger. Therefore, many tiger-related elements were incorporated in costume designs.

黄河

The Yellow River

黄河全长约5464千米，是中华文明最主要的发源地，中国人称其为“母亲河”。北京冬奥会的五环呈现环节，采用了“黄河之水天上来”的奔腾气象进行设计。

About 5,464 kilometers in full length, the Yellow River is the most important origin of the Chinese civilization, and as such, it is called the “Mother River” by the Chinese people. The presentation of the five interlocking Olympic rings at Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics was inspired by the torrential waterfalls of the Yellow River.

The Guest-Greeting Pine

迎客松是黄山的标志性景观，是中国与世界人民和平友谊的象征。

The Guest-Greeting Pine is an iconic landscape of Mount Huangshan and a symbol of peace and friendship between China and the world.

中国编织艺术

Chinese Weaving Art

中国编织艺术丰富多样，其中“中国结”用丝线编结而成，是中国传统的吉祥装饰物品。北京冬奥会采用多种编织艺术作为设计元素。

Chinese weaving art comes in rich and diverse forms. Among them, "Chinese knots" woven with silk threads are traditional auspicious decorative items in China. A variety of weaving arts have been adopted for design in the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics.

The lantern for the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics has been inspired by the “No. 1 Lantern of China”—the Changxin Palace Lantern of the Western Han Dynasty.

北京冬奥会仪式火种台，创意灵感来自传统青铜礼器——尊。

The cauldron of Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics has been inspired by Zun, the traditional Chinese bronze ritual vessel.

北京冬奥会奖牌，名为“同心”，造型来源于中国古代的同心圆玉璧。

“Tong Xin” (together as one), the medals of the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics, are inspired by concentric jade disc of ancient China.
