Daxing International Airport: New Window and New Opportunity


  6月30日,北京新机场——大兴国际机场正式建成竣工,预计于9月投入使用。从空中俯瞰,新机场航站楼宛如展翅的金色凤凰,迎接着八方来客。

  On June 30th, Beijing's new airport -- Daxing International Airport --, was officially completed and is expected to start operations in September. A quick glance from the sky shows the terminal of the new airport spreading its wings like a golden phoenix - to greet all and sundry.

  北京大兴国际机场是建设在北京与河北之间的超大型国际航空综合交通连接枢纽,辐射北京、雄安新区、天津等京津冀核心区主要城市。它的投入运营,除了更好地平衡北京城市南北格局之外,也将极大地促进区域经济协同发展,同时为周边地区旅客出行提供便利。

  Beijing Daxing International Airport is a super-large integrated international air transport hub connecting Beijing, Xiongan New Area in Hebei, Tianjin and other cities in the region. In addition to optimizing city development of Beijing, its operation will greatly promote the coordinated development of regional economy and provide ease of travelling to passengers in the surrounding areas.

  目前,北京主要的民用机场是首都国际机场,随着客流量不断大量增长,面临空域资源紧张的问题,每天大约有300个飞行架次无法安排。大兴国际机场的修建将突破运力瓶颈,本期建设4条跑道,未来,其航站楼将满足7200万人次旅客吞吐量的出行需求。同时,地铁、城际铁路、高铁等多条轨道线路贯穿航站区的下方,交织成一张高效的地下交通运输网络,直达航站楼内部。当高铁通过航站楼下方时,设计最高时速可达250公里。为缓解地下轨道运行震动对航站楼的影响,技术人员专门设计了横间的隔震技术,这也使新机场成为全球最大的隔震建筑。

  At present, Beijing's main civil airport is the Capital International Airport. With a continuously growing passenger foot fall, the airport needs to run additional 300 flights per day but  shortage of airspace resources remains a challenge. The construction of Daxing International Airport will break through the bottleneck of transport capacity. Four runways will be built in this period. In the future, its terminal will meet the travel demand of 72 million passengers. At the same time, the subway, inter-city railway, high-speed rail and other track lines will run through the lower part of the terminal area, interweaving into an efficient underground transportation network. The high-speed railway will pass below the terminal with maximum design speeds as high as 250 kilometers per hour. In order to alleviate the impact of underground track vibration on the terminal building, technicians have specially designed the isolation technology between crossings, which also makes the new airport the largest isolation building in the world.

  新机场中央放射的五指廊构型设计,更多的是以旅客为中心。在拥有更多近机位的同时,做到旅客安检后从航站楼中心步行到达任何一个登机口,所需时间不超过8分钟。新航站楼还首次采用了双层出发高架桥,形成两个车道边,极大地提高了空地交通接驳的效率。

  The design of the five-finger corridor in the new airport is more passenger-centered. With more boarding corridors, it takes no more than eight minutes for passengers to walk from the terminal center to any boarding gate after security check. For the first time, the new terminal also features a double-decker departure viaduct, forming two lanes, greatly improving the efficiency of open-ground traffic connections.

  新航站楼外型与功能兼备,内部构造也遵循着节能环保的理念。采取了屋顶自然采光和自然通风设计,同时实施照明、空调分时控制,积极采用地热能源、绿色建材等绿色节能技术和现代信息技术。候机区的建造引入了中式传统园林理念,在展现中华文化魅力的同时,提升了旅客的候机体验。
  With a fancy appearance and great functionality, the terminal’s internal structure also follows the concept of energy saving and environmental protection. With natural roof lighting and ventilation design, the terminal also adopts the technologies of time-sharing control for lighting and air conditioning,green energy-saving technologies such as geothermal energy, green building materials and modern information technology. The departure lounge introduces the concept of a traditional Chinese garden to exhibit the charm of Chinese culture and also improve passenger waiting experience.

  Beijing Daxing International Airport, located between Beijing and Hebei,far south of the Capital International Airport, not only optimizes the airspace, but also injects new momentum into the coordinated development of Beijing, Tianjin and Hebei, forming a new window for China, or its skies, to open up to the world.
