为了纪念莱镇中心的街景项目,ArtWalk 展示的其中一个街景艺术项目是一系列的装饰砖。来自本地的艺术家和创意人士积极参与了这个社区艺术绘画砖块项目。五颜六色并富有艺术感的各种绘画砖块正在艺术中心前的马萨诸塞大街和埃默里公园展出。

莱镇艺术委员会(LCA)宣布2021-2022拨款申请周期定于9月1日开放。所有申请必须在2021年10月15日前通过马萨诸塞州文化委员会(MCC)网站在线提交。逾期申请将不被受理。任何增强莱镇社区文化活力的个人、机构、学校、非营利组织和其他组织都可以申请。所有申请人必须是马萨诸塞州居民或现住民。 


该计划必须与艺术、人文或科学相关,必须与莱镇居民的公共利益息息相关,不允许有针对年龄、能力、民族、种族、宗教、性取向、性别认同或表达、国籍、地域、移民、军人或社会经济地位的歧视,并需在2022年2月1日至12月之间完成。

LexArt 新装修的The Molly Harding Nye Gallery 九月份推出 以“反思、觉醒和韧性” 为主题的艺术作品展览。此展览LexArt与其他八个社区艺术组织一起合作,展示当地艺术家在挑战时代所展现的集体精神的最佳作品。展览期间并隆重开幕The Molly Harding Nye Gallery。展廊由莱镇居民Joseph S. Nye与他的妻子Molly Nye 及朋友和家人慷慨捐助,并以Molly的名字命名为莫莉·哈丁·奈展廊。

我们很高兴地宣布由莱镇历史学会和莱镇园艺俱乐部主办的HerbFest!定于9月12日星期日,无论雨天还是晴天,从12点到 4点,这次庆祝活动包括免费参观三个历史遗址的花园:Buckman Tavern, Munroe Tavern 和Hancock-Clarke House,以及草本植物相关的示范,工艺品,点心,并在每个地点有零售。下午2:30,参加在Buckman 新建好的Helen Noyes Webster and Mary Milligan Memorial草本花园。它最初种植于1950年,在莱镇园艺俱乐部的支持下,由镇历史协会的长期成员和志愿者使花园重新焕发活力。

LexArt开设两个为期六周的课程专门介绍中国画和使用笔画的技术,由著名中国画老师 Qingxiong Ma 亲临指导。学生将学习使用徒手笔触重点展示表现力、个人诠释力和夸张抽象的水平。学生将用墨水、水彩画和水粉在纸上创造美妙的视觉效果。这两门课程都适合初学者,但题材不同。花鸟画会持续6周,课程从9月20日(星期一)上午9:30 至下午12:30。风景画课从9月24日(星期四)开始连续六周, 上午 9:30 至下午12:30。

 2021-2022 Grant Cycle

   Date: 9/01 - 10/15


The Lexington Council for the Arts (LCA), a Town of Lexington Committee, is pleased to announce that the 2021-2022 grant cycle will open on September 1, 2021. All applications must be submitted online through the Massachusetts Cultural Council (MCC) website by October 15, 2021. We cannot accept late applications. 


Who can apply? 


Individuals, agencies, schools, nonprofits, and other organizations may apply for grants that enhance the cultural vitality of the Lexington community. All applicants must reside or be located in Massachusetts. What are the grant requirements? 


  1. The program must be related to the arts, humanities, or sciences.

  2. The grant must demonstrate a public benefit for Lexington residents.

  3. The project may not discriminate on the basis of age, ability, ethnicity, race, religion, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, nationality, geographic origin, or immigration, military, or socio-economic status.

  4. The program must be completed between February 1 and December 31 of 2022.

Fall classes are gearing up in music, dance, theater, ceramics, and the visual arts.  There will be an Open House September 10 for tours of the studios in the building (including its 122 window restoration project!) as well as a dance band, and a printmaking workshop, both outdoors.  FREE and open to the public.  There will also be tables outside where visitors can talk with directors from the Dance Inn, Lexington School of Ballet, Lexington Music School, Munroe Center Stage, as well as teachers in the visual arts programs.

We are thrilled to announce HerbFest, presented by Lexington Historical Society and Lexington Field & Garden Club! 


Scheduled for Sunday, September 12, rain or shine, from noon to 4 PM, this celebratory event will include garden tours at our three historic sites, Buckman Tavern, Munroe Tavern, and Hancock-Clarke House, as well as herb-related demonstrations, crafts, refreshments, and sales at each site.At 2:30 PM, join us as we dedicate the newly-installed Helen Noyes Webster and Mary Milligan Memorial Herb Garden at Buckman. Originally planted in 1950, it has been revitalized by longtime Historical Society members and volunteers with support from the Lexington and Field Garden Club. 


Free admission; Donations welcome!

We will be looking for returning fall migrants such as warblers, vireos, and fly catchers on their trip south.  And, of course, we’ll search for our resident birds, such as woodpeckers, titmice, and hawks. Meet at the Allen St trail entrance opposite 23 Allen Street. Will be cancelled if there is heavy rain.

Chinese Brush Painting Course 

Landscapes

Instructor: Qingxiong Ma


LexArt is offering TWO, six-week courses to introduce the technique of Chinese brush painting. Taught by well-known instructor Qingxiong Ma, students will use freehand brushwork with an emphasis will be on expressiveness, individual interpretation and abstraction through exaggeration. Students will use ink, watercolor, and gouache on rice paper to create wonderful visual effects. Both courses are for beginners, but they focus on different subjects.


Birds and Flowers meets 6 Mondays from Sept 20, 9:30 am- 12:30 pm Landscapes meets 6 Fridays from Sept 24, 9:30 am- 12:30 pm

The Comprehensive Plan Advisory Committee, along with LexingtonNext Project Co-Leads, Community Circle and Martha Lyon Landscape Architecture, are hosting a community input event to review existing housing trends and identify current housing needs in Lexington. 


Topic areas will include: 


  • Housing gaps in Lexington - What housing is missing? 

  • Affordability & aging in place - How can Lexington create housing that is appropriate for all ages and income ranges? 

  • Equity - What tools can Lexington use to support and advance housing equity in Lexington? 

  • Learn by example - What can Lexington learn from other communities? 


Those who live, work, play, learn, visit, used to live but moved away, and/or travel through Lexington are encouraged to join!Mandarin interpretation services will be provided.All attendees will be automatically entered into a free raffle and eligible to win prizes. Participants must be present at the time of the raffle to win.

Professor Rotberg is well-known to the OWLL audience. His earlier courses received enthusiastic reviews. His background includes professorships at MIT, Harvard, and a Fulbright Distinguished Professor of International Relations in Brazil and Canada. He has also held Leadership positions at Academic Vice President at Tufts and President of Lafayette College, Scholar, teacher and author, he has an exceptionally deep background in international relations.

FREE event showing youth bike safety skills, road signs, handling techniques, bike safety checks, proper helmet fit, hand signals, and more! 


Many stations lead by MassBikes and sponsored by Safe Routes to School and community partners. 


Event will take place at the Lexington Children's Place parking lot. Sign-up is required. Bring your bike, helmet, and wear closed-toe shoes. Masks also required. Helmets available if you do not have one or have the improper size. Youth will be signed up in half-hour segments. Parents are encouraged to stay on-site.

Smart Cycling for Adults

Do you know all you need to feel comfortable and bike safely with traffic? Do you feel you know enough to teach your children how to ride cautiously and conspicuously while on their own? When you drive a car, are you confident on how to share the road with people on bikes? The Smart Cycling program gives you the tips, tools, and techniques to confidently answer YES to each question. 


This class is great for new cyclists, returning cyclists, and experienced cyclists who would welcome some tips.This course is also a pre-requisite for anyone interested in becoming a League Certified bike Instructor (LCI). There is a need for more bike instructors, so by taking this course, you are on your way to becoming one if you wish to carry-on with further training!
